From July 17th to 19th, organizations across the nation will convene to commemorate "Good Trouble" in honor of the late civil rights icon and statesman, Congressman John Lewis. As an influential member of the SCLC and a founding member of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC)—which was organized in April 1960 at Shaw University by SCLC board member Ella Baker—Congressman Lewis dedicated his life to nonviolent social change. Since his passing on July 17, 2020, his enduring legacy continues to serve as a vital blueprint for structural equality and civic engagement.
